Day 2 – Talk of Epic Climb

By March 14, 2008June 9th, 2015No Comments

Good morning…

There is oatmeal and yogurt, coffee, strawberries, walnuts and of course…..cinnamon. There is talk of Palomar, there is a flurry of e-mails being typed and phones going off. Marit comments that the coffee pot is leaky. Thomas confesses that he tests teapots in the bathroom of the store before he buys them. Marit learns how to use a garbage disposal. Chris ‘brings it’ when he boasts that he climbed Palomar in 70 minutes last year. We talked about sharks. Marit educates us on the migration patterns of shark species.

I am just listening. There is an epic climb ahead. And in less than 2 hours we will each be in our personal place of pain as we climb Palomar. I’m not sure what each person is looking for or what they will find, but I know the pay off will be more than just reaching the peak.

I read this on the plane yesterday:

“The highest reward for a person’s toil is not what they get for it but what they become by it.”

-John Ruskin

And I thought it would be perfect today. It’s what I become along the way today that will matter most.

I can’t wait!
